    About

This unit stands in the area of the new Limassol port. Its water goes straight into the network of the Limassol District Local Government Organisation (EOA), which runs the drinking-water supply in and around the city.

It was one of the first four mobile units in the government's drought programme of late 2024, which planned it at 5,000 m³ a day, expandable to 10,000, at a capital cost of about €4.2 million. The contract was signed in August 2025 with a four-month build period and a January 2026 target. The unit ran on a trial basis from the end of March 2026, until the contract's acceptance steps were complete, and the ministry announced full operation on 5 April 2026. The contractor, the contract value and the price per m³ have not been published.

Sources also disagree about what the unit treats. The December 2024 plans described a seawater unit, while a ministry release of June 2026 said it uses brackish water from boreholes.
